Sand Point Boys vs Saint PaulA very fast paced game. The score was close until Kory Cheek picked up his 3rd foul in the beginning of the 2nd quarter and his 4th in the beginning of the 3rd quarter.
The Sand Point Eagle girls played New Stu Eagles tonight in their 2nd Regionals game. The game was very close the first half with a score of 12 to 17, our girls only trailing by 5 points.
Right from the beginning, Sand Point took the lead with the help of Alex Gilbert and Mathew Bravo double teaming their star player. The rest of the team played good defense against the other 4 players on their team keeping their scoring in check and rebounding all the missed baskets.
Premiere game of the first night of regions was exciting but unfortunately Sand Point lost its 10 point lead and lost to Manokotak 73 to 49 mostly due to Manokotak's surge in the 3rd quarter.
In game 2 of the Regionals held in Manakotak, Sand Point Eagles girls played the Manakotak Lynx. The girls played very hard and well.
King Cove 66—Sand Point 48On Thursday night, the T-jacks beat the Eagles 66-48. The T-Jacks had a great first quarter scoring 16 and holding the Eagles to 5.
Early Saturday Morning, the Eagles and T-Jacks were at it again with fur and feather flying. The much improved eagles again gave the T-jacks excellent competition. Both teams started slow reflecting the 9:00 am starting time and the first few minutes were riddled with missed shots, but after a short period of waking up, both teams found some rhythm.
Even though it was a low scoring game, this game was incredibly entertaining. King Cove edged Sand Point by 10 points, 51 to 41. The lead was never more than 12 points the entire game and the score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 35 to 29 with King Cove leading. As a result, the tide is turning and Sand Point is becoming a well disciplined and structured team. Look for the Eagle boys to get better each game this season. The leading scores were Matthew Bravo with 17 points for the Eagles and PJ Hamilton with 29 points for the T-Jacks.

Rookies Volleyball ended on Friday evening when the Rookies lost to Newhalen Malamutes. The Rookies started the regional tournament out strong against a deeper bench from Koliganek on Thursday night.
The King Cove Rookies' 2011 win streak was put to the test on Friday night. They passed the test with the play and leadership of senior Co-Captains -- Shauna Jo Calver and Raylene Kochuten.
Many people took notice of the games here in Sand Point.The boys started with a fun and excited game in front of a large crowd, on their home court.
We had a fast and furious weekend. The T-Jacks played 5 games in three days. Thursday, we could not get to Dutch Harbor because of weather, so we diverted to Sand Point to get a game in against the Eagles
In the abbreviated ACC tournament held in King Cove the Bristol Bay Angels defeated the cold shooting King Cove T-Jacks. The T-Jacks were hurt by 3 single digit quarters, scoring only 2 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Rookies from King Cove hosted the Angels from Bristol Bay in agame that almost didn’t happen. The City of King Cove has beenexperiencing winds of over 60 miles per hour the past two weeks. Allpassenger air traffic has been on hold. This was going to be the startof the first ever Aleutians Christmas Classic.

Thursday night started out not too well for the Rookies but the girls putup a good fight and came back from a couple of deficits and almost tookthe games after winning the first one handily. They had a good night tothink about the experience of loosing on their home court and came backwith a vengeance Friday night.
The Lady Eagles had an interesting finish to their volleyball season.The team was still weathered in at King Cove School as of Mondayafternoon.They began looking at it a little differently."Hey look at it this way, it's a 5 day slumber party" one of the girls said.
This last weekend our King Cove Rookies traveled to Bristol Bay for the Silver Boot tournament
A recent trip to Bristol Bay proved to be very exciting and fun.
The Sand Point Eagles high school girls basketball took on the Unalaska Raiders high school girls in basketball. It was a hard fought contest, and both teams competed until the last second of the clock ticked off.
